I recently bought the oh so classic Alien Quadrilogy.
As everyone else, I have seen them all before. The thing is though that when you see something as a teen you tend to miss out of some of the art of the movie itself.
I watched the 4 movies 4 nights in a row or something like that. Very late night (like dark movies should be seen). They were even better than the first times I saw them.
I'm a fan of apocalyptic movies where you feel that the world is on the edge of extinction, ready to fall. These flicks are a must if you somehow have missed out on any of them.
They're not equally good though even if they all pass the flick-for-kick-limit.
So, here's the "Flicks For Kicks Alien quadrilogy ranking":
1. Split decision -
Alien, for the lonely feeling of drifting alone in space & of course because it's the first movie, make it unique at it's time.
Aliens, for the action/apocalypse feeling of being out of options on a foreign planet
(big up James Cameron).
2. Alien 3, for taking the important step forward and not falling into making a copy of any of the earlier movies. New story, new aliens & new good shit (not first place-good shit though).
3 Alien Resurrection, sorry Jean-Pierre Jeunet, I love your flicks but trying to make the fourth movie in an already amazing trilogy is way too fucking hard. It was probably an honour for you to take on the job but I think you knew you wouldn't end up making the best Alien flick.
Anyhow; The Alien Quadrilogy is a must have and therefore it's a "SEE"!
